Adrian Newey will be unveiled as Aston Martin’s new trophy signing on Tuesday, confirming Mail Sport’s story of last week that the revered technical boffin has joined on a £20million-a-year deal.
It is understood that the 65-year-old will also take a 2.5 per cent stake in the company, which is valued at beyond $1billion.
His move is the sport’s coup of recent times, since the Repton School-educated aerodynamicist decided to leave Red Bull.
Newey HB-pencilled the designs that led the team to multiple world championship successes through Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
He was previously the mastermind behind title triumphs at Williams and McLaren. In all, he was a major feature of 13 constructors’ titles with seven drivers.
Newey declared his intention to leave Red Bull at the start of May.
Ferrari, Williams and McLaren had avidly sought his services.
