With the summer transfer window heating up, Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is pushing ahead with a number of high-priority deals to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad. After three consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League, the Gunners are expected to be aggressive in the market to finally push for silverware.
Here are five deals Berta could finalise this week to give Arsenal a major boost before pre-season begins.
Martin Zubimendi’s transfer from Real Sociedad is virtually complete, with only a medical remaining. The Spain international has just wrapped up international duty and is now on holiday, but he is expected to return shortly to complete the move. Reports suggest his Arsenal shirt number has already been chosen, signalling the announcement could be imminent.
Zubimendi’s arrival is seen as crucial with Thomas Partey’s contract set to expire and his future leaning toward a move away from north London.

Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga has emerged as Arsenal’s preferred option for the backup goalkeeper role. The Gunners are ready to activate the £5million clause in his contract. With Neto having returned to Bournemouth, Arteta is keen to bring in competition and cover for David Raya. Kepa is reportedly open to the switch, which could be finalised quickly.
Benjamin Sesko remains the club’s priority striker target. Arsenal have agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old, but negotiations with RB Leipzig are ongoing. The Bundesliga side are holding out for £85million, though Berta is expected to try and reduce that fee in the coming days.
Arsenal hope to complete the deal before the squad returns for pre-season to ensure a seamless integration.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to be among the first departures this window. Having lost his place in the starting lineup, the Ukrainian is now attracting interest from clubs across Europe, including Borussia Dortmund. Signed for £30million in 2022, Zinchenko has played an important role at Arsenal but now looks set for a fresh challenge.
Thomas Partey is expected to leave the club in the coming days as his contract expires on June 30. Although Arteta was open to keeping the Ghanaian midfielder, there has been no agreement on an extension. Barcelona have been linked with the 32-year-old, and an exit appears all but confirmed.
These five moves, three arrivals and two exits, would mark a strong start to a window in which Arsenal are expected to spend heavily. With squad depth and quality essential for a busy 2025-26 season, Berta’s early action could prove vital in the Gunners’ push for domestic and European glory.
