FITNESS COACH BLASTS TENNIS STAR STEFANOS TSITSIPAS AFTER LEAVING HIS TEAM

In two days from now, Stefanos Tsitsipas will compete in the Halle Open. Leading up to that match, he'll probably have to face a plethora of questions about his work ethic.

Earlier this week, Tsitsipas' former coach, Christos Fiotakis, crushed him for not having his priorities in order.

Fiotakis recently stepped down from his role as Tsitsipas' coach. The main reason he walked away is because he wasn't seeing eye-to-eye with the 11th ranked player in the world.

“I was really looking forward to the Olympics in Paris because I thought that would be the moment when we could bring the gold, which we didn't do in Tokyo, due to bad luck and some strange circumstances,” Fiotakis told SDNA.As I said, however, we have other priorities and I am not satisfied with Stefanos' work ethic.”

Fiotakis didn't stop there. He then questioned if Tsitsipas truly wants to win Grand Slams at this stage in his career.

"Right now I don't think his ultimate focus is on playing tennis and getting to the top of the rankings or winning Grand Slams," Fiotakis continued. "So that's why I too can't travel for seven months straight, with only 25 days at home, when the goals are not high and I'm traveling just to travel. I have enough work at home and I prefer to distribute my energy to different people in my daily life, make them fitter and achieve what they want, without stress."

Tsitsipas made the French Open final in 2021 and the Australian Open final in 2023. He lost both matches to Novak Djokovic.

Perhaps Tsitsipas will finally break through at Wimbledon, but he has never made it past the fourth round. His bet might be at the U.S. Open since he's comfortable on the hard court.
