Jack Draper has admitted that being sick on court during his US Open semi-final defeat was 'the worst feeling ever'.

British star Draper vomited three times during the second set of his loss to world No 1 Jannik Sinner in New York.

Draper was beaten 7-5 7-6 (7-3) 6-2, with his misery being compounded by the fact that he was feeling unwell.

As reported by BBC Sport, Draper said: 'When you're playing long matches, you need to be able to drink and give your body the supplies it needs to keep on going.

'But obviously when you're feeling sick, you can't put anything inside your body, and it's the worst feeling ever.

'You can't move around the court when that happens. It's a horrible feeling.'

Despite the defeat, Draper is optimistic regarding his future.

The 22-year-old outlined his belief that it is 'just a matter of time' before he enjoys Grand Slam success.

Draper said: 'I think I just need to keep on learning, keep growing, keep having situations like today and how am I going to do it different next time.

'I think it is, honestly, just a matter of time.

'It's experiences, doing all the right things, training consistently, and over time you progress and you get stronger and better.'

Draper overcame Zhang Zhizhen, Facundo Diaz Acosta, Botic van de Zandschulp, Tomas Machac and Alex De Minaur to reach the semi-finals and didn't drop a single set in the process.

He also became the first male British player to get to the semi-finals of the US Open since Andy Murray in 2012.

Sinner, meanwhile, will take on American Taylor Fritz in the final of the tournament.
