ROY KEANE SINGLES OUT MAN UTD STAR FOR CRITICISM AFTER 'LUCKY' COVENTRY FA CUP WIN

Roy Keane has slammed Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana for time-wasting in their FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry.

United beat the Sky Blues on penalties after squandering a 3-0 lead as late goals from Ellis Simms, Callum O'Hare and Haji Wright forced the game into extra-time. Coventry almost won it when Victor Torp scored in the final few minutes, but VAR subsequently ruled out the goal for offside and United went on to win the shootout.

Despite United ultimately prevailing, their performance has come in for plenty of criticism and club legend Keane took aim at Onana after the game. "You always say you need a bit of luck," Keane said on ITV.

"(Harry) Maguire said they showed good character, I don't see character in this group of players. I'm looking at the goalkeeper, wasting time. Just get on with the game. Show some courage. I don't like what I see from this United team.

"They are hard to like. They play in moments. We go on about leadership and character, but I don't see any of this from this United group. My goodness, they rode their luck at the end.

"The substitutions, the goal gave Coventry belief and all of a sudden they looked like a Premier League team in extra-time and United looked like a Championship team." United boss Erik ten Hag admitted they "got away with it", but insisted the game was "not an embarrassment".

"On several occasions we let each other down," the Dutchman said. "Today we got away with it. We have to improve. We talk a lot about this. First you have to put yourself in a winning position, but then you have to take it over the line.

"In these moments we were making mistakes and not keeping our responsibilities. In the final part there was a lack of discipline. We have to keep the ball, keep making passes, go for goal and be strong in defence. It's about communication and we have to improve on this.

"It's mixed feelings in the dressing room. We can be happy with the achievement, getting to the final, that's huge. I see the mistakes we made, but it’s not an embarrassment, it’s a huge achievement. We need to win that final, though."
