PREMIER LEAGUE FINAL TABLE WITHOUT VAR – INCLUDING ONE TEAM WHO LOST FIVE POINTS

Ever wondered how the Premier League table would look without VAR? Of course you have.

The technology has been under record scrutiny over the past year or so, with Nottingham Forest issuing a widely-ridiculed statement and Wolves forcing a vote to remove the system altogether. In short, faith in VAR is at an all time low, so we thought it'd be fun to see how the season would have gone without it.

Below is an adjusted Premier League table, via Manchester World, which reflects a campaign with all VAR decisions wiped out, and it makes for interesting reading. Firstly, Forest aren't, as their scathing statements after their defeat to Everton last month suggested, the most chronically aggrieved side in the league.

That honour goes to Sheffield United, who lost a whopping nine points due to VAR decisions. That said, even in the no-VAR timeline they didn't avoid the drop. Aston Villa meanwhile lost seven points to the tech, while Fulham lost five.

Elsewhere, Wolves, who are fighting hard to kill VAR, benefitted the most from the tech this season, earning six points over the course of the season. Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham were the next luckiest, earning three points each from VAR calls.

Meanwhile, Fulham had the biggest jump position-wise. In real life, Marco Silva's men finished 13th, but with VAR taken away they'd have finished ninth. Crystal Palace also had a sizeable jump, though it was in the other direction. They finished 13th without VAR having sealed a 10th-place finish in real life.
