MIKEL ARTETA ARGUES WITH PREMIER LEAGUE SUPERCOMPUTER THAT HAS PREDICTED FINAL TABLE IN TITLE RACE

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was not interested in what a Premier League supercomputer had to say regarding who will win the title this term.

As things stand, the Gunners sit top of the pile with four games to play. Arteta's side boast a slender one-point advantage at the top, but second-placed Manchester City have a game in hand over the north Londoners that if they win, will see Pep Guardiola's men leapfrog Arsenal into top spot.

As a result, Arsenal cannot afford any more slip-ups. More dropped points for the Gunners would mean City could also afford to lose one of their final five games and still have their fate in their own hands, which would all but end Arteta's hopes of lifting the title this term.

Up next for Arsenal is a huge north London derby clash away at fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur. During his pre-match press conference, Arteta was told that Opta's supercomputer simulation has City down for a 72 per cent likelihood of winning the league.

In contrast, the Gunners have just a 27 per cent chance according to the supercomputer. Once that was put to the Gunners' boss, Arteta had this to say with a smirk on his face: "Hopefully we can tweak that computer and make it a bit higher.

"Maybe they need to upload the software, maybe we need to help them and give them more tools - hopefully, we can change that."

Arteta was part of the last Gunners side that beat their arch-enemies at the old White Hart Lane in the league. The stakes are certainly high from Arsenal's perspective ahead of this latest derby and the Spaniard has shed light on the contrast in preparing for a fixture against Spurs as a manager rather than a player.

More motivation, if anything, because you know what you can give to people, which is a lot of joy and happiness if we manage to win the game," Arteta explained. "When you have the chance to do that and it’s in your hands, you really want to make the most of it to try and make it happen."

Arsenal got the better of their north London neighbours in the away fixture last time out. An own goal from Hugo Lloris followed by a Martin Odegaard stunner was enough to hand the Gunners a 2-0 win and Arteta will be hoping for something similar to keep title hopes alive on Sunday.
