MICHAEL OLISE'S STAGGERING BAYERN MUNICH SALARY EMERGES AS MAN UTD FAIL WITH LATE MOVE
Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is set to collect a staggering £220,000-a-week salary when he joins Bayern Munich, with his wage set to double.
The winger agreed a new deal less than 12 months ago at Selhurst Park to take his pay up to £100,000-per-week. That figure is now expected to more than double at the Allianz Arena, with the France under-21 international to take home £220k-a-week according to the Daily Mail.
Olise has been a wanted man this summer with Chelsea having long-trailed the star. The 22-year-old, whose younger brother Richard is on the books at Stamford Bridge, almost secured a move to west London last summer before ultimately decided to remain with Palace.
The Blues once again thought they had secured a deal in recent weeks but, as revealed by Mirror Football, it is understood that Olise was unwilling to make the move. Enzo Maresca's side were not the only club to be spurned, however.
Mirror Football understands that both Manchester United and Manchester City saw late bids for the player fail. The two teams looked to facilitate offers that would see Olise join them in 12 months time and enjoy another season at Crystal Palace under Oliver Glasner.
United are said to only be able to strengthen their squad with a net spend of £50million this summer, while City preferred to delay the move given their own financial fair play situation. With Crystal Palace valuing the player at £60m, he does not come cheaply, and Newcastle and Liverpool also had interest.
Olise does have a release clause, and Bayern Munich have met that figure in addition to capturing the Palace star's attention. The parties are in talks to make a move happen, with new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany a big fan of the player.
The transfer would see him join the likes of former Premier League stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier in Munich and compete for a place with Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry among others. Palace boss Glasner has no doubt of the star's talent however.
"I think everybody knows he’s a good player," Glasner said in May. "He's fit now, I also think we found a very good position for him and he has a lot of individual qualities. He is a brilliant player, a great guy, but he also benefits from other players. Michael is brilliant.”
