MARCUS RASHFORD SET FOR CRUNCH TALKS ON MAN UTD FUTURE AFTER ERIK TEN HAG CALL

Marcus Rashford is set to hold talks with Manchester United's new sporting director Dan Ashworth as his future hangs in the balance.

The Red Devils are willing to entertain offers for the majority of their squad - Rashford among those - as the player seeks a resolution to his future. Last term he endured a steep decline in form, which came the year after he posted career best numbers in front of goal.

Rashford though attracted regular criticism in Manchester and his off-field antics have led to his relationship with Erik ten Hag declining. The Dutchman had to reprimand his forward for partying late and failing to report for training, which ended with him being dropped for games.

United preference is to retain their academy graduate and help him rediscover his best form, but they remain open minded, reports the MEN. PSG have long been credited with interest and a big money deal would represent pure profit for the Red Devils.

The club's stars will report for pre-season training next week when Rashford is due to hold talks with Ashworth, who has just come on board in Manchester. Rashford only signed a new five-year contract worth £325,000-a-week last July, but that is no guarantee of him staying at Old Trafford.

It is understood that Rashford’s brother, Dwaine Maynard, has held discussions with an agency to potentially assist in managing the forward.

The 26-year-old, who only scored eight times in all competitions, played in United's FA Cup final win over Manchester City before announcing his summer plans on social media: "I plan to rest and reset mentally after a challenging season individually and collectively. Thanks to the fans that stood by me through a difficult period. To the ones that didn’t just remember at United, we always stick together."

United themselves struggled last term as they posted their worst ever Premier League finish before salvaging their campaign with FA Cup success. Ten Hag confessed that the team's issues didn't aid Rashford, but still made it clear that his forward needed to increase his level.

"He knows, I know. It has to do with himself but also to do of course with the team. I already said our attacking game has improved a lot after the winter. But before winter our attacking game was not good enough. I think it's always the two factors I mentioned; it's the team and it's himself. They are of course related to each other."
