LUKE LITTLER BOOED AGAIN AS ANOTHER PREMIER LEAGUE CROWD TURNS AGAINST DARTS STAR

Luke Littler was booed on night 15 of the Premier League Darts, with the Manchester United fan playing up to the crowd in Leeds.

Littler was previously booed when the Premier League visited Liverpool last month given the rivalry between the two teams and the teenager cheekily referenced the Reds' Merseyside derby defeat during one of his walk-ons that day.

He ultimately went on to win the night, beating Rob Cross in the final, and he received a similar reception from fans in Leeds as they also have a longstanding rivalry with the Red Devils. Littler was once again booed during his walk-on, but took the reaction in his stride.

However, after making a strong start by beating Peter Wright 6-1, Littler was then beaten 6-1 in the semi-finals by three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen. Reigning world champion Luke Humphries went on to beat Van Gerwen 6-5 in the final to win the night.

It was a huge win for Humphries, who is a Leeds United fan and debuted new walk-on music at the event by switching from DNCE song 'Cake by the Ocean' to 'I Predict a Riot' by Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs.

"When I walked in here, I did feel a little bit of pressure, I can't lie," Humphries told Sky Sports. "I knew it (pressure) was on me. This was a dream for me tonight to perform in front of a crowd that I don't do very often.

"Tonight was amazing. Going on to win was one of my greatest experiences in darts. The crowd were fantastic. It is what dreams are made of. I have played really well tonight, but it is how you peak on night 17 - being Premier League champion is something that would mean a lot to me."

In the process, Humphries, Littler and Van Gerwen all officially booked their places in the play-offs. Littler currently sits top of the table with 38 points, closely followed by Humphries and Van Gerwen.

Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith will now battle it out for the final spot on night 16 in Sheffield, with the pair drawn against each other in their first match of the night. As a result, whoever wins that game will qualify for the play-offs.
