LIVERPOOL, MAN CITY AND ARSENAL'S REMAINING GAMES AS REDS DEALT HAMMER BLOW TO TITLE HOPES

Liverpool' s hopes of winning the Premier League in Jurgen Klopp's final season were dealt a hammer blow on Wednesday night as they lost to neighbours Everton.

Klopp's team went into the game three points adrift of league leaders Arsenal, who romped to a 5-0 victory over Chelsea on Tuesday. They were stung by goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, though, paying for some errant finishing of their own.

Defending champions Manchester City sat a point adrift of the Reds, but with two games in hand on their rivals after Wednesday's action. The first of those comes against Brighton on Thursday, where a point would be enough to lift them above Liverpool.

With just weeks of the season to go, there's little margin of error for any of the sides in title contention. Liverpool's midweek defeat might indeed have ruled them out of contention entirely, as they now need both rivals to slip up.

All three contenders have matches against fifth-placed Tottenham to come, with Arsenal first to play Ange Postecoglou's side. There are also games which could impact the relegation battle and the fight for European qualification.

Arsenal have the advantage when it comes to goal difference, with their midweek win helping. With more games, though, City could yet close the gap in that regard.

For Liverpool, though, it will be tough to reel in their rivals with so little time remaining. Here, Mirror Football looks at what's in store for the top three.
