LEANDRO TROSSARD RUBS SALT INTO CHELSEA WOUNDS WITH BLUNT MESSAGE ON ARSENAL ROUT

Leandro Trossard declared 'London is red!' after Arsenal's dominant 5-0 win over Chelsea.

Few would argue against his Instagram claim after Arsenal recorded their biggest ever victory over the Blues on Tuesday evening, and sit 17 points clear of north London rival Tottenham in the table. They will have to prove their worth again this weekend though, when they take on Spurs in a pivotal match in the title race.

Trossard opened the scoring against Mauricio Pochettino's side before Kai Havertz and Ben White each added a brace to send Arsenal top of the Premier League in a comfortable night at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta's side kept their 16th clean sheet of the season to cement their place as the division stingeist defence.

No other team has earned more than 10 shutouts this term, while Liverpool and Man City have produced nine. It is little wonder when speaking after the game, Trossard wanted to highlight his side's defence qualities.

"They say clean sheets help you win games and that's what it is," the Belgian said. "We know if we score a goal then a lot of times we can win by 1-0, but obviously we want to go for more.

"Today was the perfect night, where we scored loads of goals. It's credit to everyone because everyone works so hard defensively, attackers, midfielders, and we are just one team and you can see that on and off the pitch."

The thrashing Arsenal delivered Chelsea made sure to improve their league-best goal difference too. With little separating the teams at the top of the table, that could yet go a long way.

The Gunners hold a goal difference of 56. That is 13 goals better than Liverpool and 12 goals better than Pep Guardiola's team. Although both title rivals have games in hand of Arsenal.

Speaking in the same interview as his team-mate, Ben White was quick to repay the compliment. The former Leeds and Brighton star has shown plenty of attacking ability himself in recent weeks, capped off by his two goals against Chelsea.

It was his wingers' defensive abilities that have impressed him however. "It's not just the defence that's keeping the clean sheets," White added. "The wingers are working so hard tracking back and it's so important for us."
