THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Belgian, who has six goals in six games this season, believes his international compatriot would be a brilliant addition to MLS. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder, meanwhile, is set to be a free agent in the summer of 2025 when his contract at the Etihad expires.

On De Bruyne, Benteke said he thinks he would be a great fit with a Western Conference club, noting the two teams based in Los Angeles.

WHAT BENTEKE SAID

“He's 32 and he's been around in Europe for many, many years,” Benteke said. “I can see him at a team in LA.”

When asked what he would tell potential signings who arrive in the league, the Belgian chimed in saying: "I would describe the league as physical and technical... it’s a mix of both because people think, ‘Oh yeah, MLS is easy. They don’t really care about football or soccer.’ Until you play the game, you understand that you will enjoy yourself. But you better be ready, you better respect the league because it’s not that easy.”

WHAT NEXT FOR DE BRUYNE AND BENTEKE?

D.C. take on NYCFC this weekend in MLS action as they look to earn their third win of the season. Man City, meanwhile, take on Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals.
