ARSENAL NEWS: GARY NEVILLE MAKES BOLD MARTIN ODEGAARD CLAIM AS TRANSFER FUNDS DENTED

After a difficult week earlier on this month, Arsenal's morale has significantly improved after back to back Premier League wins against Wolves and Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta's men welcomed the Blues to the Emirates on Tuesday night and made light work of their London rivals, swatting them aside with a 5-0 victory. Afterwards, attention turned to title rivals Liverpool, who were in action on Wednesday in the Merseyside derby.

Those associated with the Gunners will have been keeping a keen eye on the contest at Goodison Park and ended up delighted at the result, with Everton beating the Reds 2-0 and all but ending their title hopes in the process.

Brighton could not do Arsenal a similar favour when they welcomed Manchester City to the Amex on Thursday. Th Seagulls were battered 4-0 by the reigning champions, who are breathing down the necks of the Gunners just one point behind.

With that being said, here are all of the Arsenal related headlines on Friday, April 26.

Gunners ace hailed as 'best in his position'

HAVE YOUR SAY! Is Neville's assessment of Odegaard correct? Comment below

Gary Neville believes Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is the 'best in his position' after his sensational display against Chelsea earlier this week.

Two of the Gunners' five goals were assisted by the 25-year-old, which means Odegaard now boasts 20 goal contributions so far this term. Within the Arsenal crop, only Bukayo Saka now has more than their mercurial skipper.

Reflecting on Arsenal's most recent victory on his podcast, Neville claimed: "Very good, excellent in fact. They were outstanding in that first 25 minutes against Aston Villa when we were there a couple of weeks ago, some of the football.

"And Odegaard is mesmerising at the moment, I think he's become the best in that position in terms of the way in which he plays."

Ben White's agent issues passionate defence

Ben White has been one of Arsenal's standout players this term, but still manages to divide opinion. So much so in fact, his agent has felt compelled to come to his client's defence in light of some of the criticism he has received in recent weeks.

The Gunners right-back sparked headlines when he ruled himself out of selection for international duty, which angered some sections of the England fanbase. Alexander Levack, White's agent, took to LinkedIn to urge fans to "be kind".

"I feel compelled to write this today after such a great performance last night, and all season for that matter, from client Ben White," Levack wrote. "For the past 4 weeks Ben has been in the press and media a great deal in that time with a large percentage of that being negative.

Whilst I appreciate that Ben is in the public eye which brings it’s own connotations and leaves you open to criticism I wanted to make the point that every elite performer, whichever field that may be, is a human being who has the same feeling we all have and experience good and bad."

Injury could cost Arsenal summer transfer fee

So much has been made of who the Gunners could look to bring in this summer, but Arteta is keen on moving some players on in a bid to boost transfer funds. One avenue to some extra cash could be closed though, as Kieran Tierney has suffered a right adductor muscle injury.

The Scotland left-back had fallen well down the pecking order at the Emirates, five years after his move from Scottish giants Celtic. In turn, he has spent the bulk of the current campaign on loan with La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.

According to El Chiringuito, Tierney's injury could cost him the remainder of his season, which could dent his hopes of a permanent transfer to sunny Spain. As a result, the Gunners would miss out on any sort of transfer fee for the defender who is out of contract with the club in the summer of 2026.
