WHAT HAPPENED?
Moments after the Red Devils scraped past the Championship side on a penalty shootout to reach the FA Cup final, substitute Antony cupped his ear to taunt Coventry's players. United manager Erik ten Hag defended the £85 million ($105m) recruit's actions, saying the winger was "provoked", but ex-Inter Milan and Ajax star Sneijder has torn into the Brazil international.
WHAT WESLEY SNEIJDER SAID
The 39-year-old told Dutch outlet Ziggo Sport after the semi-final: “Antony should be absolutely embarrassed for what he did. He should have walked straight off the pitch instead of doing that. I hope Manchester United lose 5-0 in the final.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
United's victory, which involved Ten Hag's side throwing away a 3-0 lead in normal time, means they will face Manchester City in a repeat of last year's FA Cup final. As for Antony, the winger failed to read the room with his actions. Perhaps the former Ajax star would be better served improving his goal contributions, as he has scored just two goals and bagged a paltry two assists in 34 appearances this season.
WHAT NEXT?
Antony's United side return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host bottom of the table Sheffield United at Old Trafford, followed by a home clash against relegation-threatened Burnley on Saturday.
