AFL IDENTITY KANE CORNES DOUBLES DOWN ON CRITICISM OF COLLINGWOOD CAPTAIN DARCY MOORE: 'JUST SPEAKING FACTS'

  •  Cornes continues to savage Darcy Moore's inconsistent form
  •  Moore has failed his stamp his presence on the 2024 season
  •  Cornes defended his comments, saying he's just speaking facts

AFL pundit and former Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has doubled down on his recent swipe at Collingwood captain Darcy Moore, insisting that he's 'just speaking facts'.

The defending premiers were beaten by the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon, keeping the Suns record at home unblemished in 2024.

Cornes singled out Moore for criticism afterwards, pinpointing his inconsistency.

'I reckon he plays one good game in every six,' Cornes told Nine's Sunday Footy Show.

'I know that sounds harsh, but as a leader of this footy club... I just see it far too often.

'Darcy Moore disappoints me. I've got to be honest about Darcy Moore, the premiership skipper.'

Sports journalist Sam McClure questioned Cornes' take of the situation while appearing on Nine's Footy Classified on Monday night.

'I think that's incredibly disrespectful to a premiership captain,' McClure explained.

Cornes fired back at McClure.

'Well, I'm just speaking facts here,' he said.

Cornes went on to spotlight Moore's flaws this season.

'How many coaches votes do you think Darcy Moore has this year?' Cornes asked McClure.

'He's had four (coaches votes).

'He's had one vote in round seven, he had 45 (coaches votes) last year. He's not the player that you think he was.'

'I don't just say things for the sake of it. His timing is off, as I said. He doesn't impact offensively.

'What's that press there? That's not a player who is captain of a premiership team, who probably gets paid $900,000 for the year.

'These are the facts, Sam.'

The Pies clash with Essendon on a Friday night at the MCG in round 17.
